"I've always had food and water bowls that sit directly on the kitchen floor. They trap water and get gunk at the base constantly. Usually wind up putting them on a plate or mat. Problem solved. The bowl is raised about an inch and half and sits on three small legs. It's heavy enough to take a knock (or a very thirsty dog) and not budge. The ceramic finish makes cleaning it out easier than the metal ones I usually use where food or water deposits dry and stick. Not to mention, feels better as a pet owner to use a real ceramic bowl than aluminum. The appearance also meshes with kitchen decor much better. Very happy with it."
